Thursday evening three families set out on an adventure. Ron and Jimmy were set to compete in the North Georgia Adventure Race in Ellijay from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon. We decided to make it a multi-family affair and headed to the Deadwyler family lake house to set up our Race Weekend Head Quarters. I had every intention of providing photographic evidence of just how much stuff went into the making of this weekend, but in the insane busy-ness of actually getting it all pulled together it completely slipped my mind. If you consider for a moment what might be needed for a family of seven, then add in four sleeping bags and a pack-n-play, and games and toys and books to keep 13 children (nine and under) entertained, and enough groceries to share between 19 people... you might be able to imagine that it would be a lot. And we haven't even begun to talk about the amount of gear that the racers needed, including a boat on the top and bikes on the back. We were a sight to behold, for certain.
The weather was amazing (if a bit cold), but we were still able to get in a little exploring.
Rock skipping...
and "log skipping" (no Jesse's were harmed in the making of this picture)...
